Letters To an African Son
My African son
When u get old
Don't get told
That your ways are odd
Don't be fooled by the shiny
Don't try to be skinny
Don't deny the poor a penny
Learn their ways
But choose your way
And Never stay away
From your baby
My African son
For what u eat
U must pay
For what u drink
U must pay
Don't confuse Pray and Pay
Even if they make u pay before u pray
Avoid cigarettes
Avoid pork and his cousins
Avoid the Napoleons
Avoid needles and guns
They sting more than the African bee
Don't call the mountains by the white man's name
Don't call the Lakes by the whitemans Name
Don't pray to a white liberator
Don't change the color of your skin
My African son
U are greater than u can imagine
U are a livity of the creators might
Look to the color Yellow
Look to the color Green
Look to the color Red
For when it rains
My presence u will see
Remember your greatness when u see the lion,
Remember your greatness when u touch your dreadlocks
For u have been curved from the spirit of a lion
And blended in a pot of gold
My African son
When u get old don't be promiscuous
But u can marry as many
As ur first wife agrees
Don't be foolish and selfish
Never betray a fellow brother or sister
All black people are brothers and sisters
All other people are cousins and relatives
Don't despite one another
None is more greater than the creator
Do not be greedy
Do not be lazy
Do not take their education seriously
Just learn the basics
So u can overstan what u must learn
Do not seek to be employed
For the most high has employed you to the task of your talents
Live in a way
That your livity will endure forever
Do not live in fear of hell
Do not live in anxiety of heaven
Is the earth not perfect and balanced??
U were created to guard it for it shall always be the home of your children's children for generations and generations to come
So live life knowing that life is how you see it
And how you live in it
Don't bother the creator with too many apologies always trying to get saved
Go out there and let your life be the testimony
My African son
U are blessed beyond measure
Why put faith in someone else
When you can just put faith in yourself
Don't you believe u were created in the image and likeness of the creator??
Or do u have to look at the cow or the moon to believe in yourself?
U are great my son
And your creator is greater
I hope u live to this words
